Abacus Group expands global cybersecurity with Entara acquisition

Yesterday

Abacus Group has acquired Chicago-based managed security services provider Entara, expanding its cybersecurity and IT service offerings for financial services clients globally.

With this acquisition, Abacus Group will integrate Entara's incident response expertise and AI-powered ServiceNow platform into its broader suite of offensive and defensive security solutions. The move is expected to enhance the company's capacity to deliver managed IT and security services to highly regulated and high-touch industries such as financial services.

Enhanced service capabilities

Entara's specialisation in incident response will now be available to Abacus Group's clients and their portfolio companies. This will strengthen Abacus Group's layered cybersecurity approach, offering clients continuous cyber recovery support and advanced digital infrastructure risk mitigation. Entara's AI-driven instance of the ServiceNow platform will further enhance service delivery and operational outcomes for clients by automating and streamlining security response and IT service management processes.

The expanded capabilities will be delivered alongside Abacus Group's existing services, including its abacusFlex platform, to the combined customer base. The company stated that this integration creates a seamless, global network for managed IT and cybersecurity that supports businesses ranging from small financial managers to large multinational organisations.

Executive comments

Jonathan Bohrer, President, Abacus Group, said: "I am delighted to welcome Entara and its clients to Abacus Group. Entara's reputation and long-standing client relationships align perfectly with our core values as we further establish Abacus Group as the premier provider of managed services and cybersecurity globally. We are committed to leadership, innovation, operational excellence and exceptional client experiences in our unique vertical markets, and this acquisition demonstrates just that. "Together, our combined capabilities and footprint will unlock immense opportunities for clients, employees and shareholders. We look forward to working with the Entara team to ensure a seamless integration," he said.

Pam Diaz, Chief Executive Officer and President at Entara also provided a statement on the transaction. "We are excited to embark upon this collective journey as part of Abacus Group. Our shared customer service values and commitment to excellence will allow us to offer a broader range of premium services to our long-standing clients, as well as future prospective clients."

Diaz commented further, "Our employees are some of the biggest winners in this deal. They take immense pride in the innovative capabilities they have built around Incident Response and ServiceNow – solutions built on years of AI and automation research and development. With this next chapter, they'll have the opportunity to share those contributions within a larger organisation, amplifying their impact at scale."

Linda Maclachlan, Founder and Owner of Entara, reflected on the significance of the move. "This combination creates something unique in the cybersecurity landscape—a provider that can scale from boutique, high-touch service to enterprise-grade global operations without losing the personal attention that builds lasting relationships. After building Entara for 24 years and growing it organically, I am filled with gratitude for our clients, our employees, and our extraordinary leadership team who have all been true partners in shaping this company."

Broader market reach

The acquisition increases Abacus Group's reach across the US financial services market, drawing on Entara's existing client base and expertise in servicing highly regulated industries. The combined organisation aims to deliver regulatory-compliant services tailored to the specific needs of asset managers, private equity firms and large institutions, while maintaining personalised client relationships.

Abacus Group and Entara both provide managed IT solutions for businesses with a focus on security, compliance, and efficiency, supporting firms' ability to operate securely at scale in the face of evolving cyber threats. The integration of Entara's automation and incident response platforms is set to deepen Abacus Group's cybersecurity offering and operational resilience for clients worldwide.
