Akamai & Seraphic partner to bolster Zero Trust security tools
Akamai Technologies has announced a strategic agreement with Seraphic to integrate secure enterprise browser capabilities into its portfolio of enterprise Zero Trust security products.
The agreement will see Seraphic's secure enterprise browser (SEB) technology combined with Akamai's Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution, Enterprise Application Access, aiming to provide organisations with a consolidated approach to security service edge (SSE) requirements.
Secure access needs
As organisations increasingly move towards digital transformation and incorporate artificial intelligence tools, the need for easy yet secure access to private applications, SaaS platforms, and AI tools becomes paramount. Employees require access from various devices and locations, while enterprises face the challenge of safeguarding internet access not just against conventional web threats, but also newer risks associated with AI, such as potential data leakage and malicious prompts.
The evolving threat landscape has prompted many companies to seek approaches that extend beyond simple network protection. A Zero Trust framework has therefore become attractive to many businesses, as it enforces detailed access controls and implements browser-level protection without impacting user productivity.
Comprehensive solution
Combining Seraphic's SEB with Akamai's ZTNA solution allows customers access to a broader security solution, designed to cover the primary use cases traditionally handled by SSE products.
"Enterprises are realizing that unmanaged browsers and risky AI tools create gaps traditional network security can't cover," said Ilan Yeshua, CEO and Co-Founder, Seraphic. "Partnering with Akamai allows us to extend secure browsing into a broader Zero Trust framework, ensuring organizations can adopt new technologies confidently while keeping users and data safe."
The integration enables Akamai to address security challenges by offering a solution that, according to the companies, is simpler and more cost-effective compared to classic proxy-based approaches. The unified offering is positioned to ease integration across existing enterprise security infrastructure.
"With Seraphic, we're able to go beyond the limits of legacy SSE," said Ofer Wolf, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Security at Akamai. "By combining Seraphic's enterprise secure browsing with our ZTNA solution we deliver a simpler way to secure apps, SaaS, and AI tools on any device, without the heavy infrastructure and complexity of traditional proxies."
Network and monitoring
This partnership makes use of Akamai's global network presence, providing users and applications with consistent protection regardless of their location. Key technical highlights include installation-free device posture assessments and improved data loss prevention measures when accessing private applications.
The combined product also enables organisations to regulate and monitor their entire SSE operations from a unified dashboard, employing a single policy across all SSE components. This approach aims to further simplify the management process while enhancing visibility and control.
Commercial availability
Akamai has stated that both its customers and partners will be able to access the combined solution as well as each of its components separately. The company's Zero Trust solutions have also been recognised with the Customer Favourite designation in a recent Forrester analyst report.
Seraphic specialises in providing secure browser technology designed to protect against threats including phishing, data loss, and credential theft, and its services can be deployed across managed and unmanaged devices. Its technology is utilised by several large enterprises worldwide.
