Brivo unveils 2026 cloud video surveillance trends report
Brivo has published a 2026 trends report on video surveillance, setting out seven themes it expects to shape business security programmes over the next year, with a focus on cloud adoption, regulation, privacy and the use of AI.
The company said the report focuses on privacy protection, expanding government requirements, public safety and the use of AI-enhanced surveillance in security operations. Brivo positions cloud systems as a route to tighter control over video data and more structured governance.
Seven trends
Brivo's report lists seven trends. It said cloud-based AI had become the default option. It also said enterprise cloud adoption had reached a tipping point. The company pointed to regulation as a foundational business reality. It said privacy and protection of personally identifiable information had become an operational standard. It also highlighted a shift from incident response to active readiness.
The report also flags gun detection as an emerging feature. It said parking operations had become a more important operational driver for organisations using surveillance systems.
Brivo did not provide customer numbers for the report itself. It presented the themes as issues for business leaders, security professionals and IT managers that manage surveillance deployments, data retention policies and access controls.
Cloud and compliance
Brivo's narrative links cloud platforms to audit trails and access governance. The company said cloud architectures can use encryption, access controls and automated logging. It also said cloud systems can reduce risks it associates with local setups, including copying and data transfers that prove difficult to audit.
The report's publication comes as many organisations reassess video retention and monitoring practices amid changing expectations around privacy and workplace surveillance. Businesses also face increasing scrutiny from regulators and employees over how they collect and handle footage, particularly where video data can identify individuals.
Product context
Brivo sells a cloud-based physical security platform. The company said its Brivo Security Suite combines access control, video intelligence, visitor management and intrusion tools into a single interface.
Brivo also referenced a recent merger with Eagle Eye Networks. It said Eagle Eye provides a cloud video management system and video intelligence features.
Brivo said it has more than 2 million devices deployed across more than 100,000 locations in 80 countries. It also said more than 25 million users use its products globally. The company has headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, and Austin, Texas, with offices in Lehi, Amsterdam, Bangalore and Tokyo.
Executive view
Brivo's Chief Executive framed the shift as a broader enterprise move towards cloud-based security systems.
"2026 is a turning point, as the majority of enterprise businesses start the move to cloud-native security," said Dean Drako, CEO, Brivo.
"Whether you're new to cloud-native security or not, this year's trends report provides a blueprint for businesses that want to build a truly secure, resilient, and operationally optimized business," said Drako.
Brivo said it plans to discuss the report's findings in an interactive webinar with Drako and Jonathan Frase, CEO of Arc Eye Defence Systems.
