Comp AI has raised USD $34 million in a Series A funding round led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures. It now serves more than 1,000 customers.

The Miami-based compliance and security software provider said the funding follows strong growth since its founding in 2025, including a 15-fold year-on-year increase in annual recurring revenue. The new capital will support product and engineering work and expand its security offering beyond audit readiness and compliance automation.

Comp AI sells software that helps businesses manage compliance, risk, vendor security and security operations on one platform. It is positioning the product around continuous checks and automated tasks rather than the periodic reviews that have traditionally underpinned compliance work.

That approach comes as businesses update software more frequently and face faster-changing security threats. Comp AI argues that point-in-time assessments provide only a partial picture of a company's security position, particularly in regulated sectors and larger enterprise sales, where security requirements often arise earlier in the buying process.

Its tools use AI agents to handle tasks including onboarding, policy and risk generation, evidence gathering, control monitoring and vendor assessments. Comp AI also said customers can reach compliance in days rather than months, though it did not provide a breakdown of customer deployments or contract sizes.

Its customer base spans healthcare, financial services, higher education, professional services and software. Named users include Corgi, Dub, OpenCode, Inference and Primer.

Growth plans

Comp AI plans to use the funding to expand its work in what it describes as continuous cybersecurity, including real-time monitoring, control validation and security testing across applications and infrastructure.

The business also said it has grown tenfold year on year and plans to hire across product, engineering, operations, sales, customer success and marketing. Hiring will be centred on its Miami headquarters and New York office as it targets larger organisations with more complex security needs.

Investors said the company's pitch is based on the view that compliance and security are becoming ongoing operational functions rather than periodic exercises tied to audits. Roo Capital Principal Varun Sridhar said that shift had become more urgent as AI changes both software development and the threat landscape.

"AI is changing the security and compliance landscape quickly, and businesses can no longer afford to treat compliance as an annual box-checking exercise," said Varun Sridhar, Principal, Roo Capital.

"Lewis and Claudio saw that shift early and built an agentic platform that makes compliance and security continuous. The gravitational pull they have received from the market shows us that customers have felt the pain and see the need for a platform like this one. Comp AI is exactly the type of company we are building Roo to back, and we believe it has a real opportunity to define this category. As company builders ourselves, we are excited to lead this investment and put Roo's differentiated Capital + Talent + Growth model to work alongside the team as they scale."

Comp AI's pitch to customers is that software should take on more of the practical work involved in proving and maintaining compliance. It said much of that work has historically still depended on manual effort, even after earlier software products digitised parts of the process.

"The first generation of compliance software proved this process could be automated. Agentic AI lets us go much further," said Lewis Carhart, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Comp AI.

"Security software shouldn't just track the work. It should understand the business, perform the work, and act as risk changes. We started by making compliance dramatically faster and less resource-intensive. Now we're building toward a platform to proactively identify, validate, and act on risk in real time."

Other founders framed the market in similar terms, arguing that AI is changing both the volume of software being produced and the speed at which security teams must respond. They said this is creating demand for systems that can carry out recurring checks and validations without relying on periodic human intervention.

"Historically, compliance has been an approximation of security because so much of the work could only be performed manually and periodically," said Claudio Fuentes, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder, Comp AI.

"Agentic AI changes that constraint. Work that once required teams of people can increasingly happen continuously in software. At the same time, AI is making the threat landscape faster and more dynamic. We believe the next generation of security companies will be built around that reality from day one."

Comp AI's technical direction also centres on using AI to carry out and verify security work rather than simply recording whether it happened. The company said it is designing its platform around what AI agents can do across organisational data and workflows.

"AI changes both what software can do and how quickly technical teams can build it," said Mariano Fuentes, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, Comp AI.

"As models become more capable, we can move beyond software that simply records whether security work happened toward software that can execute and verify that work."

Grand Ventures said adoption among its portfolio companies helped inform its backing of the round.

"When I first visited Comp AI in New York, the team was four people working out of a single room," said Nathan Owen, General Partner, Grand Ventures.

"Since then, an increasing number of our own portfolio companies have left other compliance platforms out of frustration and moved to Comp AI, and every one of them raved about both the process and the result. That's the same thing I saw on day one: a team that moves incredibly fast, stays close to its customers, and makes every resource count. Growing to more than 1,000 customers this quickly is remarkable, and we believe they're just getting started."
