Island adds browser AI controls to AWS Security Hub

Thu, 26th Feb 2026

Island has integrated its Island Enterprise Extension with the AWS Security Hub Extended plan, adding browser-based controls for safe browsing and AI governance to the curated security offering sold through Amazon Web Services.

The integration makes Island's extension available within the Extended plan's purchasing framework. Customers can buy through AWS under a single contract and bill, with support handled through the plan's consolidated model.

AWS positions the Security Hub Extended plan as a way for organisations to procure a set of security products from AWS and selected partners alongside AWS detection services. The product description says it spans endpoint security, identity, security operations and artificial intelligence.

Browser controls

Island's Enterprise Extension runs inside a web browser and applies policy locally. It is designed to work on any browser, without requiring a separate browser deployment. Island says this avoids proxy backhaul and does not rely on "break-and-inspect" traffic handling.

Island describes the browser as a key control point for day-to-day work, where staff access software-as-a-service tools, web applications and AI services. The extension focuses on user activity within the browser session.

The extension includes protections against phishing and malicious destinations, and aims to identify malware-related risks as users browse. Island positions the controls as real-time safeguards close to the user, rather than a separate inspection layer.

AI governance

The product also covers AI governance. Island says the extension provides visibility into AI applications and browser extensions, along with administrative control over AI usage policies.

It also includes data boundary controls intended to keep corporate data within an organisation's applications and sanctioned AI resources. Island links these controls to broader efforts to manage how staff use consumer and business AI tools in the browser.

The integration reflects a broader trend of security vendors using cloud marketplaces and packaged procurement programmes for distribution. For large organisations, these routes can reduce separate vendor negotiations and simplify budget management across multiple tools.

Buying and rollout

Within the Extended plan, Island's extension becomes part of a curated set of partner solutions available through AWS. Island highlights a single purchasing experience through AWS, with consolidated billing and support, as well as flexible pricing through the AWS channel.

AWS says the Extended plan is available in all commercial AWS regions. Island's announcement ties its own availability through the Extended plan to that footprint.

Island is best known for its Enterprise Browser, marketed as a managed browsing environment for organisations. The Enterprise Extension complements that offering by applying policy controls inside third-party browsers.

Security leaders have increased their focus on browser-based threats as more corporate activity shifts to web applications. Phishing campaigns, malicious links and credential theft continue to target users where they work-often inside browser tabs rather than installed applications.

The rise of generative AI tools has added governance questions that also play out in the browser, including which services staff can use and what information they can share. This has increased demand for controls close to the user session, rather than limited to network gateways or endpoint agents.

Dan Amiga, CTO and co-founder of Island, said the integration reflects that focus on browser-based exposure and the operational challenge of rolling out controls without disrupting user workflows.

Amiga said, "Island is proud to help enterprises unify how they detect and respond to risk across their environments. By integrating with the AWS Security Hub Extended plan, we're protecting the front line of modern work - where users interact with SaaS, the web, and AI every day."
"We're enabling organizations to modernize security and improve operational efficiency without adding friction or complexity. This represents an important step in our collaboration with AWS. We look forward to continuing to deepen our integration and innovation with AWS to better serve the needs of the enterprise."
