Iveda has formed a long-term partnership with Abitronix and launched AbitronixAI, powered by Iveda, to expand IvedaAI across the New York tri-state region.

The deal builds on existing work with New York City government agencies, where the companies have been developing AI video intelligence applications. These include facial recognition, weapons detection, smoke and fire detection, unattended-object monitoring, natural language search and custom models for vessel detection.

Abitronix plans to offer the technology through its existing network of customers and partners in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The partnership also provides a base for expansion beyond the region.

The companies are also extending the partnership into higher education through Abitronix Labs, starting at Kean University in New Jersey. The lab is designed to give students practical exposure to IvedaAI and related technologies across business, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and physical security.

Hugo E. Almeida, Chief Executive Officer of Abitronix, who is also a Kean alumnus and a member of the Board of Advisors for the university's College of Business and Public Management, is set to host a class linked to the initiative. Kean is expected to be the first site in a broader network of university-based labs.

Commenting on the regional expansion, Almeida pointed to the scale of surveillance infrastructure managed by public agencies in New Jersey and the surrounding area.

"We are incredibly proud that our work together began with the NYC Government," said Hugo E. Almeida, Chief Executive Officer of Abitronix.

"That experience showed us what is possible when we listen first, learn what organizations truly need, and build alongside them. Now we intend to carry that momentum across the tri-state region, beginning with our home state of New Jersey, the most densely populated and digitally connected state in the country, where a single agency may oversee tens of thousands of cameras across the communities it serves. At that scale, agencies do not need more raw footage; they need actionable intelligence that helps them understand what is happening and respond in real time."

Academic rollout

The university element adds a workforce training dimension to the commercial and government partnership. Kean's Centre for Cybersecurity has been recognised by the US National Security Agency as a Centre of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defence education, and the programme will include student internships, externships and scholarships.

Stan Mierzwa, Director of the Kean University Centre for Cybersecurity, said the lab would support applied learning for students entering security and technology roles.

"The Kean University Centre for Cybersecurity - recognized by the National Security Agency as a Centre of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defence education - is committed to giving students real-world experiential learning in cybersecurity, cybercrime and physical security," said Stan Mierzwa, PhD, CISSP, Director of the Kean University Centre for Cybersecurity.

"Through internships, externships and scholarships, students work alongside our professors and industry partners to build the competencies they need to hit the ground running. Introducing them to AI tools that integrate with physical security systems is exactly the kind of hands-on experience that prepares them for today's workforce."

The companies are entering a market expected to expand sharply over the next several years. According to figures they cited, the global video analytics market is projected to grow from US$14.65 billion in 2026 to US$41.39 billion by 2031.

That growth has prompted vendors and channel partners to link commercial deployments more closely to skills development, particularly in areas where public agencies and regulated industries are increasing their use of AI-based monitoring tools. Abitronix brings a customer base spanning more than 43 countries across six continents, with work in government and commercial sectors.

Iveda, which is listed on Nasdaq, said the partnership gives it a stronger route into the tri-state market through a regional adviser with public sector relationships. It added that Abitronix's consultative approach had already been proven through the New York City work.

"Abitronix gives Iveda a trusted presence in the tri-state region, backed by the consultative expertise and relationships required to move complex projects forward," said David Ly, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Iveda.

"Hugo and his team understand how to begin with an agency's objectives and shape the technology around its operating environment, making them an ideal partner for IvedaAI's long-term growth. Just as importantly, this partnership will put IvedaAI in the hands of university students around the world preparing for careers across business, AI, cybersecurity and physical security, giving them firsthand experience with technology already addressing real-world challenges."
