Quest launches AI tools to simplify IT migration processes
Quest Software has announced the release of two new AI-powered and self-service tools designed to simplify Active Directory (AD) and device migration processes for organisations, aiming to reduce downtime and the burden on IT departments.
The newly introduced solutions, the Active Directory Migration AI Assistant and Device Migration Self-Service Scheduling tool, form part of the Quest On-Demand Migration portfolio. This portfolio, which has managed over 100PB of data migrations, is focused on streamlining complex migrations while enhancing security measures.
The migration of IT infrastructures, such as Active Directory systems, can be complex and time-consuming. Quest Software, leveraging decades of migration experience, aims to mitigate these challenges by providing AI-driven solutions that decrease IT workload and minimise disruptions.
The Active Directory Migration AI Assistant is designed to alleviate the manual effort traditionally required in analysing complex migration logs and identifying issues. This tool automates the process, providing critical insights and recommendations, thereby enabling IT practitioners to focus on more strategic elements of migration planning.
The Device Migration Self-Service Scheduling tool addresses the disruption usually associated with migrations. It allows end users to schedule their device migrations at a time that minimises impact on business operations, ultimately freeing IT teams from coordinating these activities manually.
Another innovation is the Application Migration Assessment tool, which offers a structured framework for application migrations. This tool is intended to optimise IT resources, reduce costs, and enhance security by addressing the risks associated with redundant apps.
John Hernandez, President and General Manager at Quest Software, stressed the importance of these innovations in migration challenges. "At Quest, we understand the complexities organisations face during device and Active Directory migrations," he said. "These new AI-driven and self-service solutions are designed to simplify the migration process, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. We remain committed to delivering innovative tools that empower organisations to easily achieve zero-impact migrations."
Feedback from users of the Quest On-Demand Migration Self-Service highlights its effectiveness. Erick Purkins, Technical Lead at CDW, shared, "Quest On Demand Migration Self-Service makes the migration process easier to manage - whether it's enabling end users to opt into migrations, guiding required actions, or identifying user-to-PC relationships. The dashboard provides insights that are hard to get from other tools, helping coordinate migrations where users have multiple devices. Initially, I wasn't sure how it would fit into M&A migrations, but it has proven to offer greater flexibility, allowing users to choose when to migrate while giving administrators better visibility into the process."
Aside from streamlining migration procedures, these innovations aim to bolster organisational security. By integrating with Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) and ransomware recovery solutions, Quest On-Demand Migration assists in reducing security vulnerabilities by eliminating outdated configurations.
Quest Software, a prominent player in Active Directory migrations for over 25 years, has built a reputation for pioneering market-first solutions in the field. In 2024 alone, Quest On Demand facilitated the migration of 5.4 million users, 3.2 million groups, and 260,000 devices, underscoring its leadership in efficient, AI-driven automation and secure migration practices.
