Quorum Cyber has appointed Kevin Hanes as Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership change at the Edinburgh-founded cyber security company.

Hanes takes over as Quorum Cyber pursues international expansion focused on organisations using Microsoft security products and services. He will lead the company's next phase of growth across global markets.

He brings more than 25 years of experience in cyber security. Hanes previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Reveal Security and Cybrary, and spent eight years as Chief Operating Officer at Secureworks, where he helped establish the company's presence in EMEA and operations in Romania. He also held a leadership role at Dell Technologies as Executive Director.

Founded in Edinburgh in 2016, Quorum Cyber serves customers in North America, the UK and other markets. The business focuses on cyber security services within the Microsoft ecosystem and is a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Security and a member of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association.

The leadership change comes as cyber security providers respond to rising concern over risks linked to artificial intelligence, alongside growing demand from companies seeking outside support to monitor and manage threats. Hanes will focus on expanding the number of organisations Quorum Cyber protects while improving operations and scaling the business.

Darren Battistoni, Chairman of the Board at Quorum Cyber and Managing Director of Eterna Growth Partners, said: "With growing AI risks in cyber security, enterprises and organisations need access to Quorum Cyber's solutions more than ever. Kevin Hanes has the experience, expertise and vision required to lead the company into the next chapter of its growth journey, and I'm confident he'll transform Quorum Cyber into a global Microsoft-first cyber security powerhouse."

Hanes said: "I'm excited and honoured to be joining Quorum Cyber at a time when cyber security is undergoing massive changes at a rapid pace. This is an excellent time for us to capitalise on and harness AI-powered technology, and combine it with human experience at the right points to keep our customers safe around the clock and defending at machine speed."

Growth profile

The company enters this leadership transition after a period of recognition in the Scottish technology market and the wider cyber security industry. It was recently included in the inaugural edition of The Sunday Times Scotland Fast 50, which lists fast-growing businesses in Scotland.

Recent awards include Microsoft Security MSSP of the Year for 2025, Best Cybersecurity Service Provider of the Year at the Globee Awards 2026, ScotlandIS Digital Technology Business of the Year for 2026, and Cybersecurity Company of the Year at the 2025 Scottish Cyber Awards.

The record reflects a broader push by specialist cyber security firms to build scale through vendor partnerships, managed services and international reach. For Quorum Cyber, the emphasis remains on customers using Microsoft technology, a segment in which service providers are competing to stand out as businesses seek help with threat detection, response and governance.

Hanes takes charge as buyers of cyber security services weigh both the benefits and risks of AI tools. Providers across the market are trying to combine automation with human analysts as clients seek constant monitoring and faster responses to attacks.

Quorum Cyber has framed its work around helping organisations manage a more complex digital environment. With a new Chief Executive Officer in place and expansion beyond its home market in focus, the company is entering its next stage with a leadership team drawing heavily on operational experience in cyber security services.
