Barracuda enhances email protection against cyber threats

Yesterday

Barracuda has announced advancements to its Email Protection service, introducing new deployment options and enhanced security measures to help organisations defend against sophisticated cyber threats.

As cyber threats evolve in complexity, Barracuda has responded with updates aimed at easing the burden on security teams and providing end-to-end protection in a user-friendly format.

Neal Bradbury, Chief Product Officer at Barracuda, commented on the importance of email security: "Email remains the number one attack vector and securing it has never been more urgent – especially as cybercriminals leverage AI to improve and scale their attacks. As threats grow more advanced, so do the security tools organisations need to manage, creating complexity that overwhelms many security teams and hinders their ability to derive meaningful value."

The new features of Barracuda Email Protection focus on addressing the need for a balanced approach to cybersecurity, particularly for organisations with limited resources. Bradbury further stated, "Organisations often struggle to balance end-to-end protection with limited resources. Barracuda is addressing these challenges head-on by delivering industry-leading security that is comprehensive, cost-effective, and easy to deploy within minutes, so businesses can stay protected without compromise."

Barracuda's Email Protection enhancements include flexible deployment options that cater to varying IT environments. Users can now implement the service with or without modifying mail exchange (MX) records or opt for Application Programming Interface (API) integration for prompt protection.

An added feature is the proactive account compromise prevention, which involves monitoring both internal and outbound emails for phishing attempts and suspicious behaviour. This capability is designed to bolster defences against account takeovers by enabling quicker detection of threats and alerting administrators to take preventive actions.

In addition to these updates, Barracuda has introduced value-driven plans offering layers of email security such as prevention, detection, automated incident response, and email authentication. These plans aim to deliver comprehensive protection at tailored price points.

Commenting on the impact of these enhancements, Jay Glatt, Senior Vice President of Technology at The Giumarra Companies, remarked, "As a leading provider of fresh produce across North America and international markets, secure email communication is crucial to ensuring we deliver the safest, highest quality products. Protecting sensitive information – from order details to shipping logistics – is vital for maintaining customer trust."

Glatt continued, "Barracuda Email Protection has been a game-changer for us. It provides robust security at a price that fits our budget, and it is incredibly easy to deploy, configure, and use with a single-pane-of-glass console. As our environment and security needs continue to evolve, so do Barracuda's capabilities. I have complete confidence that we are fully protected with Barracuda, and we wouldn't consider trusting anyone else with our email security."

Similarly, Malakai Freeman, Vice President of Managed Services and Technology at Focus Technology, stated, "Our top priority as a leading MSP and security services provider is helping our customers reduce their security risks, and email security is a critical part of that mission. With these latest updates, we're even better positioned to deliver comprehensive, powerful security without compromising on ease of use or affordability. Barracuda's protection is unmatched, which is why we include Barracuda Email Protection as part of our base service offering to our customers – it's hands-down the best email security solution available."
