Quest unveils AI-driven tools for Microsoft identity security

Thu, 20th Nov 2025

Quest has introduced new AI-powered identity security features aimed at strengthening security across hybrid Microsoft environments.

The company's updated Security Guardian platform targets challenges faced by enterprise security teams dealing with identity risks, high alert volumes, and complex environments combining Active Directory and Entra ID.

AI security assessments

The latest release of Security Guardian incorporates AI-generated summaries that highlight critical identity gaps and provide prioritised remediation steps.

These assessments are intended to help security teams, especially those without deep Active Directory expertise, to understand and respond to threats quickly. The platform can instantly generate AI-written executive summaries that outline key security findings and critical risks in a concise format. This is designed to simplify communication with stakeholders and justify budgets for remediation actions.

The update also adds a new Security Guardian Agent, available through Microsoft Security Copilot, that brings identity context to platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel and Defender for Identity.

Reducing risk exposure

Quest's Security Guardian enables companies to move from manual investigation and alert handling to automated, prioritised responses. Integration with Microsoft Copilot and Sentinel supports faster detection and containment of identity threats.

According to Quest, by combining AI-driven risk summaries with machine-speed threat prevention, Security Guardian aims to help security teams tackle urgent threats more efficiently and reduce the risk of downtime or exposure.

Recent updates also include Security Guardian Audit, a cloud-native solution for compliance and audit, and support for non-human workload identities in Microsoft Entra ID. These developments expand protection across the identity lifecycle, while integration with Quest Disaster Recovery for Identity accelerates recovery from incidents.

Comprehensive migration tools

Quest has announced Identity Modernisation Suites, designed as an end-to-end Microsoft identity modernisation platform. The suites combine migration, security, audit, backup, and recovery capabilities to help organisations migrate from legacy on-premises environments to cloud-native solutions with reduced risk and greater control. There are three tiers available, incorporating pre-migration risk assessment tools and secure backup and recovery to support large-scale digital transformation projects.

The company is also strengthening its On Demand Migration offering to better support the Microsoft Power Platform, following announcements of discovery capabilities for Power Apps and previews for Power Automate. This is intended to provide a single platform for assessing and migrating workloads within Microsoft 365 tenants, reducing complexity and tool sprawl for organisations managing extensive data movement or integrations.

Enhanced data management

Quest's erwin Data Management Platform, which enables organisations to model, govern, and manage data across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, has also seen advancements with further integration of GenAI technology. The platform provides a unified way to create and deliver trusted data products more rapidly, supporting both public sector agencies and private enterprises.

According to the company, these updates are intended to give enterprises and public sector agencies a path to build secure, AI-ready foundations for their data and identity environments.

"Quest's latest AI-enabled capabilities across Security Guardian, On Demand Migration, and the erwin Data Management Platform, give enterprises and public sector agencies a clear path to make AI secure, sustainable, and profitable," said Heath Thompson, Chief Product Officer, Quest Software. "These new features will support customers' ability to strengthen identity security and simplify Microsoft 365 and Entra ID migrations, so they can better secure and govern their data, while managing migration to cloud-native solutions."
