Simbian appoints John Schmitz to drive global AI sales growth

Tue, 5th Aug 2025

Simbian has appointed John Schmitz as Senior Vice President of Sales, with responsibility for leading the company's global sales organisation and driving enterprise growth initiatives.

John Schmitz joined Simbian's leadership team earlier this month, bringing with him more than 20 years of sales experience cultivated at a range of cybersecurity companies. His career includes leadership positions at Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Oracle, Dell, Splunk, as well as roles at several high-growth organisations that concluded in successful acquisitions.

In his new position, Schmitz will oversee all aspects of Simbian's sales strategy, including enterprise business development and strategic account management. He is expected to leverage his expertise in data-driven sales optimisation and international market expansion to further Simbian's growth objectives.

Simbian's business model includes a partner-driven approach with a growing ecosystem involving value-added resellers, managed detection and response providers, managed security service providers, and systems integrators. Schmitz will be responsible for facilitating complex enterprise deals within this partner ecosystem.

The company reports that demand for its AI agent solutions continues to increase rapidly amongst enterprise customers, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and large businesses seeking to address the global shortage in cybersecurity talent.

AI's transformation of enterprise security is accelerating faster than most organizations realize, and Simbian is uniquely positioned to lead this revolution, and I'm excited to join Ambuj and the entire Simbian team to scale our sales organization globally. Having worked with hundreds of enterprise security teams throughout my career, I've witnessed firsthand the challenges they face with talent shortages and increasing threat complexity. Simbian's AI agent technology doesn't just solve these problems - it fundamentally changes how security operations can scale.

Schmitz has stated that his focus is on shaping the company's global sales efforts to enable both customers and partners to succeed. He intends to build a sales engine that both meets enterprise needs for AI-driven security and supports partner organisations.

My goal is to build a sales engine that enables every enterprise customer to harness the full power of AI-driven security while ensuring our partners thrive alongside us. The data is clear: organizations that embrace AI security agents now will have a massive competitive advantage. It's time to be bold about the future of security.

Simbian is further developing its enterprise-focused sales team with an approach centred on data-driven insights and collaborative execution, aiming to respond effectively to each customer's specific security requirements.

The company continues to listen to its customer base across industry sectors, tailoring its portfolio of AI agents to address enterprise security challenges. The development of a comprehensive sales strategy under Schmitz' leadership is designed to support measurable outcomes for customers.

Simbian states that its AI agent technology, which operates as virtual employees to autonomously handle a variety of security tasks, seeks to provide businesses with enhanced precision and efficiency in their cybersecurity efforts.
